Falling for Fall
It's no secret that Fall is my favorite season, probably because I am a Fall baby (October birthdays are the best!). It is finally September but it has yet to cool off in Atlanta, today it was a cool 85 degrees but with no humidity so I'll take it! I am just itching for fall drinks and fall activities, hello September!!!!
My favorite part of fall has to be the changing of the leaves. Although this is what makes me miss Michigan the most, there are so many trees there that it is practically a law that you have to take a drive just to look at all the color. You get some color in Georgia, but you really have to drive north of Atlanta, up in the mountains to see some real color. According to this chart that I found, fall colors are found in Georgia during early November. How disappointing, November is practically Christmas.
One of everyone's favorite parts of September is the release of Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes. I'm not as crazy about them as some people, I can usually have 1 small one and be good for the entire season. However, I love that Hot Apple Cider can be found at most coffee joints during fall. I always have a taste for cider.
Activities I am looking forward to most this year are Apple Picking, Pumpkin Picking and baking pies. My mom makes the best pies, she and I have a tradition where we make pumpkin pies together. She makes the crust and I make the filling then baked with love. I celebrate Thanksgiving with some of my family in Atlanta, an aunt who happens to be one of my mom's sisters. I was taught never to show up empty handed, so for the past 2 years I have baked a pie for Thanksgiving. This year will be no different, I even bought an antique picnic basket that is the perfect size for a pie to transport it safely to North Georgia. I cannot wait!
In case you need any more ideas for fall activities here you go. Happy Fall!
