I remember watching Marie Antoinette for the first time and thinking how I wish I could dive straight through my t.v. and devour all of those lavish looking cakes and treats.
Who doesn't want to kick back, relax, get fitted for fabulous French heels and eat fancy cakes? Where can I sign up? My mind drifted off to the time of Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette while I was busy stuffing my face at work with office birthday cupcakes.
I thought about food styling for decadent desserts specifically, wedding cakes and how amazing that would be. Naturally, I reminded myself of the BEAUTIFUL magazine article Design Army designed for the Washingtonian Bride & Groom magazine.
Although I haven't seen this article in person I constantly drool over it online. The article was all about wedding cake flavors and what your flavor says about you. (Where can I take that quiz?!)
The pastel color palette is perfect for the focus of the article. It really lets the cakes take front and center stage. Plus I love the simple female silhouette icons above the flavor name, each one has it's own personality and flair.
I love that each cake was decorated in a different style, really speaking to it's flavor. They are all so vibrant and gorgeous, I want to try them all! Which is important for brides (and the groom) to have a good vision of what they want their cake to taste like AND look like. It should really reflect you as a couple.
So there you have it. A beautifully art directed and designed layout from Design Army. This is what I look like after too much cake and good design...fabulous and exhausted.
