Hello December.

"It's the most wonderful time of the year". Indeed it is. We have finished the first week of December. I cannot believe it! I'm counting down the days until I fly home to the wintery north that is Michigan.

I do struggle not being home for the entire holiday season (whether it be fall or winter) so I try and bring my traditions from home to my home here in Georgia. I don't have that magic of the first snow so I celebrated the start of the season with my first Holiday Starbucks drink of the season! I also started Christmas shopping during the Thanksgiving holiday as well, which really helped. I felt very motivated this year and I'm going to be FINISHING my shopping this weekend. #winning! I also have already watched Love Actually already, I think that happened November 1st. I do plan on watching this at least 2 more times before I fly home for Christmas.

Christmas movies are a great way to feel festive, my must watch movies of the season are: Love Actually, Home Alone (1-3 but #1 for sure), A Christmas Story, The Holiday, Little Women, Harry Potter and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few but these are an absolute must.

So like I said, I struggle living away from home during these times of year, so I really appreciated when The Everygirl wrote an article on 12 Easy and Affordable Ways to Bring the Holidays into Your Home. One of my favorite things in the list was this little toy car with a christmas tree tied to the roof. I REALLY want to do this, I just have to find just the right toy car to do this.

You can also make a simple garland to hang across any windows if you're like me and don't have a fireplace to hang up stockings or lights.

I've also started listening to Christmas music which always gets me excited. Also eating or drinking anything Gingerbread flavored is festive!

If Gingerbread isn't your flavor of choice, Hot Cocoa is also acceptable.

And if you want to go the extra mile for festiveness, buy these adorable Santa mugs from Pottery Barn for your Hot Cocoa. I almost did this year and missed out on my chance because I hesitated, thinking they weren't a big enough mug. I'm such a fool! There is always next year I guess.

May your days be merry and bright. And may all of your Christmases be White!
